That brown dress again

Just some photos from the group photo shoot. These are my photos of the dress at its mist finished, not all the skirt seams are sewn closed (one near the back was completly open except for 1 inch at the top, the front one I almost finished while I was wearing the dress on the way to the park, you can see in the first photo where it is open at the bottom) I didn't know about the photo shoot till a couple of hours before, so it was a bit rushed.

The trim is half sewn onvery neatly on both sides, half roughly sewn on on one side, so I need to sew the second half more neatly before I actually wear it. I also need to make the (brown) sleeves, I have started patterning them.

This is probably the main dress I will be wearing at HA and Abbey. I prefer the skirt of my blue one, but this bodice is more comfy. If I have time I'll make a new bodice for my blue one (have pleanty of that fabric left) exactly the same as this one, but I'll try to elimanate those front wrinkles. If not, wrinkles at that point are period, I have seen them on a dress, a brown dress no doubt! Another reason for wearing this one a lot is every other lady in the group has a blue or blue toned dress. We are the smurfs.

Hey i would have bought BROWN linen if i could find any, however all i could find was navy blue linen,

What have you used for the lacing rings again?? and is a gap that big allowed?? i may have to have that on mine, i'm not sure it will close all the way especially around the bottom.

Yeah, I know- its just we all have the same problem, whenever we go shoping the only ok fabric is blue.

Fishing rings (not split rings) from the fishing store, Vanessa gets hers from BCF (boating, camping and fishing) at only $3 for 12. Mine were from the fishing shop near us and were $3.25.
Yes, a gap is allowed, but you may find you can lace yours closed, but can't pull it closed. That is common- its easier to lace something closed than pull it closed.
Have you tried lacing it on yet? If the gap is really to big you could try drinking less beer.

can't AFFORD to drink beer at the moment AND its Way too cold for beer and not cold enought that beer is warmer than the outside temperature...

yes i know you can lace closed easier than pulling it closed.

i did try, but the only rings were split rings, though they might hold for one try on of the bodice (to check fit) but even though the splits were in the "non weight bearing position" it snapped the lace before i got it laced through two rings.

Hmmm, if you can't find the non-split rings (apparently not all fishing shops have them because they are for, beat this, a specific TYPE of fishing, then you could use the eyes from hooks and eyes. This will be more expensive because you will want largish ones, and are only using half of what you pay for (only the eyes) but they work. Also if you make eyelets for your dresses and keep re-using the eyes for future fittings then you only need to buy them once.

Just out of interest which pattern did you cut your brown skirt from and which was your blue???

The brown one was straight panels double box pleats, and the blue has 8 or 10 (can't remember) gores, but the pleats aren't the right ratio because I didn't know how to do that then.
